from time to timeA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
a new
year, an old poem an older poet with confetti pen, horns and whistles instead of rhymes shaving more time off
the clock with graying facial hair and gnarled hands turning in arthritis
ticks seconds of syllables
removed from un-scenic stanzas
a photo shoot of less
elegance growing pains dusty rains the outpouring of words demanding declarative
insolence truant loves partying
elsewhere,
as i greet a new year with an old poem
becoming an even older
poet than i was before that
clock had a voice, and my eyes were a clear, dry sky.
