reconnoitering with the regretsA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
drab
notice, in the certain trees a foliage of faces, memories of lovers
branching into atmosphere
there is too much gray in a background of
tearful joy, just to have loved is
like a soft rain but tears slammed to the
ground are reminders of raging
what if's
i want blue but a different blue not the sardonic effort
of sad pens but the blue that holds
my sky in its hands reminiscing with a
sympathetic sun
that understands the roots of the
relationships that grew me into who i
am
a floral contingent of
green fading into silver, into gold,
about to leave the tree understanding the need
to let go.
