Too Long
A Poem by
jacob erin-cilberto
Too Long
in a
drawer of my heart,
a keepsake thought of
you,
the blaze in your eyes
on a silver chain of
memory
the charm never
tarnishes
but that drawer gets awfully hard to open
in time
when the tinder tenders
resignation of
self.

The stickiness of it all...
Is it worth even trying to open the past? I don't know. A write I can feel.

Indeed... Might as well sell it all in the next yard sale without emptying out the dresser.
Emotional, strong write. I like the short and simple ones which tell so much. This definitely does.

I often feel that way, too. ;)
I guess we can't always have full access without full consent
when it comes to emotions

if only what lay ahead was a certainty. What memories we keep are a reminder of who we are and the journey we have travelled.

What a great line, "the charm never tarnishes". It is such a great connection. What about the charm that becomes more beautiful with age? The more time that passes, the more you forget about all the dings and scratches.

Its true how passionate we feel towards something dictates our approach in to handling it. A good choice of words

It's crazy how we so long to come together. No promises for tomorrow but the barriers will still exist.
A beautiful write! Thank you for sharing!

She did, thank you so much!
Melancholy but beautiful.
To feel so deeply is both a curse and a blessing.
Stunning poetry!

thank you, Jimmy,

Love the way you leave it, always a strong closer. I wish I knew more about why the drawer gets harder to open? You don't lose the drawer, it just becomes useless (or unused).
