Those moments between awake and sleep and the opposite where our mind actually has an opportunity to speak to us is when we are reminded of these things that creep into our daily lives and sometimes it is a good conversation and sometimes it is not. Great writing Jacob
Attending enough next-door parties will eventually allow you to sleep with your conscience; it's sharing morning's devastating hangover with a constantly nagging coward-maker that pretty much has no up-side. Unless, I suppose. one considers the survival of an active conscience to be somehow advantageous.
As always, your work says much more than I highlight; indeed, what I highlight is often not even there.
I can only trudge on pretending I'm not trudging.
Your work has insight up the whazoo, Jacob, former Bronxite.
Bronxian? Maybe, Bronxer.

I sleep just fine except when I get a toothache. :)
I wish...
Still, it is an easy thing to clear the conscience, but few ever do. I wonder why? Maybe we just keep adding guilt faster than we can clear the debris?
I like the line, "cracks in the cups of morning". This could be taken several ways.

Love the line party next door to our regrets. Those tender time bombs do lack the subtlety of a quiet and unobtrusive appearance, but they certainly have a way of waking us into alertness.
Glad to see this one made it over the finishing line Jacob.
poetry and world events tucked in morning coffee and staying in bed ...i am a morning person but inspiration doesn't assault me then ..it seems in the mid afternoons tings overtake me ..deep driving commentary jacob ..the weavings for me are quite brilliant ...
