affair

affair

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

affair

psssst---------

interruption with arrogance
the conversation of love
paused,
until you walked away,

with your saxophone tones
blues image shattered,
jazzy riffs, conjugal visits
to the ears of trust

but,

now there are voices again
just two,
softly clinging,

and echoed regrets
of you.

I love your style Jacob...and you don't waste your words, not a single one. they all have a purpose. its an amazing thing to read. I see this man, and his 'regret'...you painted a picture for me yet again. Word weaver.

thank you for your kind words, jesserose,

j.
it all comes together, like scrambled eggs, first something slimy and yellow in a bowl, then completion; then
something you don't regret has happened. And like something scrambled, I doubt if the intention
of eggs, of anything, is to be so departed from it's original form. Affairs are to love, what departing
is to arrogance. Great poetic ideas here sir..

wow, i am feeling over easy ....your metaphoric response is a poem in itself...

What is enticing about your write is that it is available to the reader to color as he or she will.

What it also reveals to me about me is the sway of my personality and conditioning in wanting to know the "actual" interpretation. In that, this is almost like artistry of misdirection - asking me for a fiver from my wallet, the one that you just surreptitiously pulled from my back pocket and now hand back to me with a knowing smile.

Was it Stan Getz before? Was it the technique and the flair for swing? Did she have a bent for improvisation? Where are you, now that it's over? The set seems seems less impromptu, less complicated, perhaps more safe and secure, but I have more a sense of sheet music now.

Thank you, Jacob, for this. One may work through this any number of ways, and end each contemplation with, "On the other hand ..."

Temptation is a beast. This is quite an intriguing peace, it almost reads like gossip from the heart, no details enclosed and leads the readers mind to speculate. "Who was it? What happened? Does she know? What does he regret, that it happened or that its over?" I love that!

This echoed to me how after a split amicably or for whatever reason nice, you are the best of friends now than you ever were together hence the regret of maybe splitting! Its a great write J. I admire your writes that have many avenues of pursuit.

I wonder if the piece is about love affair or fling gone awry or didnt work out . Now these two promising sweethearts had an arguments and someone lost its cool and raise its voice and the conversation ended . They still have to figure outhow to split the stuff and property they both bought together when things are smooth . Perhaps the two voices where guilty feelings of should and shouldnt happen .

Arrogance=lust
Softly clinging to the true one the one that knows you
Painting your own canvas and then the paint dries
Lust never dries well
Thank you for sharing fine sir,Holly

Yep...

As an aside look to your msgs... I have a question for you
Echoed regrets of you....says a lot about the aftermath of an affair. But life will go on....the regrets too with time will fade and well, men will go on being men.:)

A brilliant poem much appreciated.
