Reads like someone cares what's happening to the world while their partner just lives in a world of their own oblivious to the real world but quite happy!

how appropriate. My mother sews on her quilt of patterned trains and railroads (although
the men came out looking like gingerbread characters) and only watches the news to see
the hunk of a weatherman. (her words, nor mine). But in this poem I see how the news has
changed us over the years. There was a time when at 6pm you plopped yourself down in front
of the old b&w and listened to the drone of Sir Walter, then the young whippersnacher who
took his place, Dan Rather. I remember that when the nightly news was on my father didn't even
move. Now with so much that sounds like news on multiple stations, 24-7, it's hard to
know what and who to believe. CNN and antiquated skies in the same poem. Who could believe it?
But in the Midwest, when they predict 10 inches of snow, you better get some gas for the snow
blower...
Your such a wonderful writer my friend.....dana

those last sips of beer are always the hardest to swallow. Warmed by the rocking visits to our lips, becoming familiar, and loosing effervescence. Best to choke them down and have another drag.

the world and our lives crumble around us, and we are indifferent cause it's all we think we can be/do... either dreamer or watcher.. and as such we drift apart, from each other and the world around us.... allowing CNN, Fox, or MSNBC determine what and how we think... I was going to say "bitter/sweet" but I think it's just bitter...
sorry if I took your poem way out there Jacob, but is a really good poem that does exactly what it should do, inspire thinking...
