Weak Railings

Weak Railings

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Weak Railings

slap hazard

brick constitution

skyscraper cheek

solid mortar soul

smiles from a broken window

the frame rock solid

feeling each stair

love's trowel dipped into

incompatible mixture

walls crumble

goodbyes jump from 4th story

same theme

fractured dream

she hits the ground running

having awakened

just in time.

this reminded me of a phenomenon that we have all experienced.....

as we drift into deep sleep, sometimes we have that sensation of missing a step and the jerking of our legs jolts us awake.....

we are in that twilight zone...not asleep, not dreaming fully, yet not awake either. were we running in our sleep? from what? did we catch ourselves just in time too?

i love how this piece made me think of this....

No firm foundation .. and we all fall down
Sometimes we survive, and build a life
In time ..

Well done.................Jazz

You are welcome....
Caught herself in the nick of time, or did she just fall and play it off? Excellent.
