wrinkled geography

wrinkled geography

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

wrinkled geography

blistered fingers

cotton candy eyes

pink with held tears

back lashed

scars in the field of self-worth

crop dusted

dark shadows of day

there is no sun

when the whips cloud the circumference

of something

less than life.

through our own weary eyes, we lack perspective which would otherwise enable us to see all that is good about us.

there is a tone of sad truth about this one.

well crafted, my friend

I'm especially drawn to the lines concerning the eyes, the contrast of them being "cotton candy" yet "pink with held tears". You never disappoint.

you are so kind, thank you for your words, W.k.

Botched attempt at openness, the back full of openings, blades slide in and out, you wonder your own worth as you set about in the behavior of self.

So many times! Nice write! I can relate.

regards,

al

Beautifully worded self perspective of one's worth, seen through tired eyes. I have known days that felt like this. Hopefully I will know better too.
