the theater of you

the theater of you

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the theater of you

needed some elbow room

for my heart,

squeezed out of the aisle of love

you saved my seat,

but i got detained at the concession stand

made too many, trying to hold onto you

now i  have you at arm's length

and my bones are aching

part of me wants that suffocating feeling back

because in actuality

i was breathing much steadier then

even if the heartbeats

were much shorter and quicker..

the poetry exhaled

in temperate words

and the popcorn tasted better

with your shoulder leaning against mine.

This is a wonderful write Jacob. I so feel this one.
"you saved my seat,

I love the concession stand/ making too many concessions part of this. It speaks volumes.
The heart beats steadier then...the popcorn tasted better, so many wonderful lines, within a wonderful piece.
