Blissful Ambush

Blissful Ambush

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Blissful Ambush

smoky alliance,

the barfly sips her martini

the spider chases a maraschino dream

in his apricot sour,

conversation weaves itself into a dim lit hotel room

silky resonance of neon passion,

last call words slip under covers

hands speak nuances,

spill onto coasters of intimacy

we drain our glasses

with wined and dined lips

and one too many sips

of love,

coercing each other into the web of a night

that may have no tomorrow,

but for now, we simply spin tales

of conjecture,

and hush the wondering

with lethal contact.

Waiting for Mr. Goodbar comes to mind due to that last line. Loved the entire apéritif moments. Expertly shaken not stirred creating a moment or two in time where all else is forgotten.

we take to the future all the things that today we cant find likenesses to. Dreams I think we call them.
Any conjecture for the future becomes an interpretation of omens; an ictus so recurring and so
rhythmic that it starts to sound like love, even if it isn't. Passion makes all desire moot.

I guess it can be a lethal thing....greatly thoughout my friend. dana

The intimacy of bars and hotel rooms, you capture it well here.
Smoky, nuances, hush...all creates a certain atmosphere.

Fantastic, visual poem, I can hear the bar piano tinkling evergreens, and the conjunctive, the open story
ahead. Fine work as ever from Jacob.

j..
Wonderful lines here Jacob. I would give an example if they weren't all as equally good, but the ending, hush the wondering with lethal contact is perfect. We all take for now when we can't see the horizon.
