bending heartsA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
empathy's
insurance a policy of
understanding, the world has defaulted
payment of premiums
and now the collision of
hate and love has totaled the vehicle
of faith
the adjuster is adjunct
to the wistful woe of crushed sentiment, the damage equivalent to what we see in a
graveyard of so called-caring,
he submits the claim, but no one will profit, we don't care enough to
and the replacement
hearts are as empty as the shallow bite of a junkyard dog with no teeth.
