the clear and present danger

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the clear and present danger

philosophical differences
of two chemically charged counterparts
a division of wealth,

a pauper's vision of viral longing
diseased dichotomy,
but the explosion, immaculate.

thank you for your words, Corset.

I found this both fascinating and thought provoking; and in truth viewed it in more than one way.

In the end, rightly or wrongly, and doubtless influenced by the last line in the first stanza, I came to an interpretation that has perhaps more to do with my current thinking about the awful inequality in today's world of plenty for some, but not for others. An inequality, that if it continues, will doubtless one day bring about that 'immaculate' explosion.

We can only pray that such a thing can be avoided as the consequential fallout will be the end of our so-called civilisation.
