taking the stairs can be so much more of an event than riding an elevator ;) your poem reminds me to recollect those very good experiences with "love" ... its too easy to allow the terribly painful to take a prominent position in our ol' beans! ..the best image i receive is from your closing ... it is so true that, when those in love are struggling financially, the experiences really were some of the best times of one's life ... an affordable (cheap) apartment made bright with laughter, intimate whisperings and love are the best in the world :) reminds me of San Francisco and the Haight

This is giving me emotions that I do not even know what exactly they are. It may have not been what you wanted me to understand, but I got that even once the heart is crushed by something it keeps going. Once you realize the hear keeps going, that is when the sky becomes clear, and one can allow his heart to be able to love again. This was a great poem. I loved it.

I really like this interpretation, thank you, surething.
now this is tugging on memories we do not share, but ..but ...but ...such sweet silly memories they are, I know of a splendid space to rent with the most sublime words and lines ever written, but alas, that space has already been filled.
A wistful piece of writing today, jacob - introspective; looking away from the now but upwards on self and another from the past. Wondering - having read again if pane is pain or.. a word used, not sure - (again a hint to your mood when you wrote this). The last three lines really reach a somewhere deeply stored when you both craved for so much in life and of love. :( A beautiful heart.touching poem.
"Remembering the stairs" very vivid emotions your poem evokes. ah, it's like falling in love as I read this. It gives me chills. I love the last stanza. resonating. Oh, the days when all we needed to survive...was love. Lovely piece, Jacob.
