The id of flirtation's consequence

The id of flirtation's consequence

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

The id of flirtation’s consequence

wool sweaters

warm the skin,

but the heart wears a light jacket

in a November wind,

the chill melts with malfeasance

the eyes wander

and winter becomes raw with mistrust

as the snow surprises

and we are inadequately dressed

to sustain the love

that was born out of

an egotistical April rain.

Imitations of love do not work

Like a bad jacket
Wont survive the year
and its test is the snow

Hi Jacob,
This really is a stark one! I like the weather and temperature metaphors and feel that they drive home the impact of the message. And the id in the title, that's a punch in the face right at the start. This is a power poem.

Love this jacob, from the title, to the elegance of the words and growing intensity, to the final perfect line. Egotistical April rain. Brilliant.

Interesting tile, Jacob. Freud had his own issues, and in my opinion, many. Love is sustainable if it's real. Seeing with the heart and not the mind is the key. There is big differences between want and need. We tend to get confused. Thinking we need what we want, instead of wanting what we need. I actually use the antiques I have collected :)

Nicely presented emotions. A beautiful story, written with subtlety and dexterity. Love it :)
