the ashes of chance

the ashes of chance

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the ashes of chance

raisins burn up before

pruning,

life combusts before

tuning

out trifle

heartaches

so that potent persuasion

can cause a blissful invasion

of love's

level leaning

when i first read this piece, it seemed a bit obscure and abstract to me.

but what i have come to see in it is this: no matter how off-kilter our lives seem, we subconsciously seek out love in some form or another in order to help us feel grounded and rooted. without love, our equilibrium is off.

but this much i know: it is deep, profound and compelling.

I see a fine line here of weights
That levels to find its balancing point
The word that stands out for me here is "level"

Within all magnitudes of human emotions
We level and it always ends in love
No matter how rough journeys may get .......

I enjoyed this very much

i really like your perception of the piece, Nisreen..

thank you for your insights...<.. read more
I struggled here, reading it several times before the light went on, a bit of difficulty with rendering a solid opinion. I know it's good simply because I know you.

Al

dear Jacob... this poem is very meaningful
to me... I am a survivor of eight years, but
something strange has occurred,
"life combusts before tuning". A short poem,
but power-packed. Reminds me of the
leaning Tower of Pizza... truly, Pat
