from a poor man's Paris of the mind

from a poor man's Paris of the mind

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

from a poor man's Paris of the mind

i received a postcard from my heart,

said:

"wish you were here, miss you"

it had no stamp

so i had to pay the postage

40 cents worth of angst

perforated with paper cut edges

and no return address.

so much sadness in this piece....

when the heart goes away, it only tortures the mind.

insightful and sensitive write.

This speaks to me of the apathetic state of mind some people choose to put themselves in because sometimes not caring is a lot easier. Great write as always!

Wow. I think I lack the proper training or vocabulary to comment properly, but this touches a chord in me. I have a "London of the mind" that I have not visited in far too long. Excellent piece that even made my old brain kick into gear. ~Jim

I guess true love
just gives
with no return and it gives more
till it wilts off the edges of the postcard

But it is a postcard with a message
written in time
never to die
and will always remain

it regenerates and comes back over and over again

At times the heart can desert us, especially at times we may need it most. "Lost in the mail," somehow that may be the most forgiving way to describe the feeling. An outstanding write, jacob. take care...dan

Our heart pays a heavy price when love is a one way street.
