the lodger

the lodger

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the lodger

terrified corner

a Ripper's dream

incisions of the heart

love cut at the throat of logic

emotions shouldn't walk the dark streets

when cloaked villains are waiting

to subdue naivety

and leave a trail of bloodless prints

perhaps imagination, of how she once felt

before her organ of memory

was removed by his deft reserve.

i always enjoy your allusions, Jacob...I am thinking this is in reference (partially) to the book.movies...also love the Ripper reference; so apt for the piece...that second verse is brilliant: once logic is out of the picture emotions are left defenseless...love it
