the lodger

the lodger

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the lodger

terrified corner

a Ripper's dream

incisions of the heart

love cut at the throat of logic

emotions shouldn't walk the dark streets

when cloaked villains are waiting

to subdue naivety

and leave a trail of bloodless prints

perhaps imagination, of how she once felt

before her organ of memory

was removed by his deft reserve.

The mention of jack the ripper made the piece even more gruesome. But in its entirety, the poem reminded me of Casanova. I enjoyed reading this, jacob.

Scary and mysterious I could smell the clang of dark streets, moist, hissing bricks kissing the night.

Jack the Ripper was by far the most vicious man
just horrific
yet something about the story makes one think

Was he doing it out of revenge or is this the way he saw love

Love this write

It has a Hitchcock feel to it..definitely something that resonates with that aftermath of logic being removed, and emotions left to raise havoc.

"love cut at the throat of logic" Yeah, wish I had thought of it. Find myself often thinking that when I read your work. Love this, Jacob.
