HushA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
gossiping
emotions i hear the secrets
whispered love, that evasive rogue
left me behind the blue
door once again lighting candles to save
on electric heartbeats, the bills of regret
getting too expensive
maybe i will put those
tender notes on lay-a-way, until i can afford to
sing something other than
sordid songs
and tap my feet a little against the boards of
trepidation, remembering good words
of the tune
only,
yes i hear them they hardly try to hide
themselves the voices get louder each time,
i get further away from
the din of distraction.
