Hush

Hush

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Hush

gossiping emotions

i hear the secrets whispered

love, that evasive rogue

left me behind the blue door once again

lighting candles to save on electric heartbeats,

the bills of regret getting too expensive

maybe i will put those tender notes

on lay-a-way,

until i can afford to sing

something other than sordid songs

and tap my feet a little

against the boards of trepidation,

remembering good words of the tune

only,

yes i hear them

they hardly try to hide themselves

the voices get louder

each time,

i get further away from the

din of distraction.

when we find ourselves behind that blue door, we need to take stock and remember how we got there. only then can we emerge from behind it to listen to the music of love once more.

wonderful piece, jacob.

Great rhythm,
I think the lack of full stops (points) really works.
I read this, whispered it, shouted it, sang it and only breathed when the distraction ended.

(maybe i will put those tender notes on lay-a-way, until i can afford to sing something other than sordid songs) Yes...time to bring out those tender notes from lay-away Jacob. Time to sing and make merry while there is still breath and life and love to give! Love this write. ~Sharon

Here I just stopped by to read a great piece of literature written by you and wouldn't you know it, I have to think. Your work is excellent, but I did not plan on it being thought provoking like it is. Making me interpret your words and read between the lines. Nicely done.

Silence is golden, but only if you find it.

Something about a whisper feels like this person is being fake
or lying
gossiping about someone
and appearing to be loving

because love is brave
it doesnt whisper
it acts

Jacob...yeah, I feel this...damn you! lol What I love is the REAL of what you write. You dress it up or underdress it even. It stands out, screams parabolic truth. I love it!

This certainly has your mark of poetic genius. What a unique way to sing & dance the blues.
