A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

like unknown soldiers

feedback leaves

left un-raked

unidentified

colors absorbed

in wet autumns

the epiphany of mortality's flight

there are no answers,

only questions burning

with the fall smoke

we all fall down, eventually

some without a word spoken

then lie there uncomfortably

wishing we had been found

among those who could have

identified us as evolving

from a certain tree.

I love this. My favorite part is "we all fall down, eventually / some without a word spoken ...". That part of fall is not quite here yet, but I could visualize it in your words. ~Jim
