Imposter

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Impostor

an endearing sneer

under facade, love resides

in spastic veneer

A masterfully fashioned senryu conveying profound insight that--like many truths--is nonetheless deeply distressing.
(Often, said sneer ain't even all that endearing.)
Exceptional work!

I believe most of us are all imposters.....never living up to our potential ...mulling around in other's fantasies...wasting away our want for need. So much to know from such few words. love it!

well defined question as to who and what is real...is it all presentation of self to get what we desire, seems so on the political front right now, and that is very sad

I wonder if JZ really loves Beyoncé? Or vice versa. Dr Ben Carson smiles and says he will make a good
president because he was a neurosurgeon . Fiorina smiles and says the same because she was a good
CEO. Trump smiles and says look at the polls. A few years ago my neighbor stabbed his loving wife
of 34 years. I wish, dear Jacob, it was easy to spot the imposters among us then we could make
more educated and logical decisions......dana

This is short like a senryu. It reminds me of a flower that is made of plastic. It looks real and close to the real thing but when you come near it and hold and smell the flower it lacks the sweetness and perfume of the real thing. It looks good for display though. Its low maintenance. Tough, never withers good on display.

Sometimes, people cover themselves with a protective coating because they have been hurt too many times and want to hide beneath it.

I like to think that this veneer will peel off when the right person comes along.

lovely senryu.

we can cover a lot with veneer and make things as pretty as possible, but what lurks beneath always makes its way to the surface, eventually...great senryu
