the white room next door

the white room next door

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the white room next door

please don't clutter my in-box

with your spamified kisses

i don't fall for that virus laced fantasy

anymore

my insanity doesn't need company

so reroute your intentions

and e-mail someone else your expectations

i am content to write myself letters

of in-congruent theme

even with the transient typos

perfection never became me

and i never became it

but fluency in flirtatious efficiency

knows no bounds

when it is in a natural state of connotation

so segregation from love

will immigrate to my hard drive

for the moment

and my mistakes will be saved

for only me to see,

in a file of solitary

meaning.

At some point we all grow out of that need to have anyone just to have someone, and we become more content with ourselves if we're very lucky. We don't need another half or line of symmetry and begin to find beauty in imperfections. That's when you realize you've learned something from all of those mistakes, so maybe they're not flaws so much as learning experiences.

the expectations of some don't always match what we have in mind and the more comfortable we become with ourselves the easier it is to have these emails sent directly to junk mail...love the 'segregation from love/will immigrate to my hard drive/for the moment' lines...well-done, my friend

'i am content to write myself letters
of in-congruent theme
even with the transient typos.' The words of a man comfortable in his own skin I feel.

The internet and all its illusions are maddening for the most part, usually we can see right threw the false impressions and keep that white room at bay, excellent.

You are welcome kind sir! ~SP
Spammed in the name of nothingness. Sometime ago, say 50 years, spam would live in someone's eyes.
How things change and remain the same. Nice work!

sad when trust evaporates and emails become obligatory.

and yes, it's best to save those mistakes to your hard drive as reminders that you are only human.
