bound to your vision

bound to your vision

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

bound to your vision

maudlin enterprise,

shipping out to seas of memory

i still see your smile on the horizon

even though the broken clouds of weary wandering

are a backpack of sodden sentiment

and my vision's impeded by tears of retrospect

we used to drift on that mountain of waves together

pushing each other's sail with a wind of controversial longing

but now i drift, a detached vessel

sail breached by loneliness

my ship's mate passed into the whirling waters

when the skies were still too young

to understand the knots of compulsion

or read a map of the afterlife's coordinates.

Memories can be minefields of pain....or they can bring back happy times. However, your words trudge through dark times here. The afterlife...can't say I believe in it, but if it truly exists, who would have a map of the byways and highways there? Hmmm...much to ponder in this one...you seem to be in a dark mood. Lydi**

Sorry for your pain, Jacob!
i read this one with tears in my eyes.....

It could be my story, well before I wanted to be, and before I'm ready for it to be.

Excellent write, my friend.

Erudite. I can easily surmise the poet has longed breached the beginnings of poetry writing. Your gift continues in alphabetic mystery!

So mournful and mystic, but beautiful in its sadness. To see another drift away into oblivion is a course-altering experience, one that which pushes us into uncharted waters of the never known and lonely. This poem captures the aftermath of a solo endeavor just beautifully.

Your seas of memory give me reason to reflect...

I believe someone in the afterlife is smiling greatly upon you.

even after the loss, we search for them, trying to pick some sense in those coordinates we aren't meant to understand...we ride those waves until the ship sinks and we go down with it, hands still firmly at the wheel...great poetry, my friend
