perfect persuasion
A Poem by

perfect persuasion
fireside
chats
and slipping words under
wool
the sweater swerves
of hands, trying to
kindle fire
blue flame lit,
skin verbalizing
in silent, fast breaths
the crackling of wood
sounds the sensual
chimes
as the clock dial
becomes voyeur
and the two in orange
balance
stare with hour glass
eyes
into timeless surrender.

Its funny Jacob My version on a first read was a woman knitting near the fire reflecting in thought of her life experiences of loved ones or just drifting off in thought, near the fire, her thoughts drifting with the cosy heat and the chimes of the mantel clock!

Sounds so comfy... like a never-ending night. All I was missing was hot chocolate... nice piece!

An intimate evening with a loved one is the sweetest persuasion you can encounter.
You always have a way with metaphors.

Wow. Such a compelling write....
I was in the mood for a romantic and sensual piece, and this fits the bill perfectly.
I don't think there is much sweeter than the notion of "timeless surrender"....

I echo the good Beccy--your wordsmithing and phrase-turning, always top of the mark, is operating on a couple extra cylinders here. Virtuoso stuff.

Both perfect persuasion and picture perfect. The imagery conjured in my mind's eye as I read and absorbed each perfectly cast line, caused an actual shiver of delight to run through me.
I adore all your poetry Jacob, but for me, (and don't ask me to qualify why, because I won't fully be able to,) this is extra special.
Beccy.

To dream a dream Jacob such as this one but to taste this in reality would be superb. Nice romantic feel to this.

Ah yes...sweater swerves of hands, fast breaths, crackling fire and sensual chimes of the clock! Seems I vaguely remember these things from decades past! Thanks for the memories. ~Sharon
