Double Agent

Double Agent

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Double Agent

a splash of make-up

and your reality disappears

'neath soft spoken words

uttered in covert breath

so i won't hear

your reticent heart

make-up its mind

to journey

thank you, Chris, that is kind of you to say.
Love the wordplay here with "make-up". So clever...

She took a powder; so should you. :)

"And if I could I'd get my gun and put her in the ground..."

Mata Hari, she's everywhere. Short, tight, and right.

"A little powder and a little paint makes a woman what she ain't!" Yup, she hides behind the makeup and you never realize you are dating Mata Hari. Good one. Lydi**

Double agent(s) indeed. The title is very apropos for both the double the word make-up and this woman who hides behind as mask off illusion.
Although this piece is fairly short, it buzzes around in my brain with it's layers of multiple meanings. Does she merely hide her natural face, her real self, or was it more devious; did she make-up only to break up, offer is she just covering lies. The first might draw a bit of sympathy, but if it is the second, she's a hard lady too feel anything positive about. I think it's the degree of intent. One can be pardoned as a bit confused in her emotions, the other is deliberate in her deceit.
