Oh how I have truly missed your words Jacob. Feels as if October is the onset of an awakening of emotions of some sort, as the weather changes, days become shorter. This poem is simply beautiful from start to finish, so heartfelt, full of raw emotion.
Autumn can be the beginning of festivities and/or a time of grief as the days shorten … a time of poignantly dark beauty. An expressive beaut of write, Jacob:)
Midwestern October's in Illinois, of white Eurasian birches and trains meeting along with the
crumple of regret is almost the setting of a 1940's movie where white and grey reflects
achromatic objects and you want to cry even if you don't know the plot. And something tells me
that "under the umbrella" is the seductive synonym for the concept of love (or grief). Marvelous
play on words my friend.......dana

thank you for your perceptive and kind words, my friend.
Again, the feelings that are ignited by your words are so strong.
When hearts break, clouds are left to hover in our eyes. Every so often they pour tears.
Excellent.
Oh man...I don't know if I have the words inside of me to express the beauty of that poem. You truly do have a way with words! Reading that gives me something to aspire to, a mountain to climb to find myself on a level somewhere close as to where you are. Bravo!
the coming and passing of a relationship whose vows were made in October, perhaps, still leaves that one cloud hovering because eventually those feelings rise, cool, condense, and darken that cloud until the umbrella is needed again...'fingers clutch the memory'" - such a beautifully sad line...masterful poetry, my friend...
