the ceiling of pain

the ceiling of pain

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the ceiling of pain

a torrid of pinpricks

the clouds leak insomnia tears

sorrow never sleeps

and we become the cushion

for feelings to penetrate

until there is no sky left

just a vast blue nothing.

To lay by the babbling brook of my creation and listen to it's sad song till alas I awake....and it is dawn.
A river of thoughts keep me up sometimes...I relate to this very much, well done mt friend!

thought provoking write...does pain have a ceiling i wonder...when i had the shingles with open sores for over a year i thought i experienced the worst pain but then i watched my husband suffer cancer and knew the ceiling was higher than i thought...

sometimes, in grief, the more we weep, the more tears there are.

but it's cathartic to have the flood gates of tears spring open

poignant write with a perfect title.

Pain has a certain tolerance for some and not for others. When it penetrates deeply, it does feel like pinpricks. An excellent analogy, Jacob...:).........

I still struggle sometimes with this. Those last few hours before we rest can bring on some of our worse fears.

Suffering is a story we replay in our heads. We tend to make our own moments into an enemy. Love this, Jacob!

"(V)ast blue nothing" is just a marvelous phrase, and I think it encompasses how all-consuming and pervasive true sorrow can be. Enviably tight and well-drawn piece.

i've spent time with insomnia and it is a tormenting bedfellow until that point where nothing matters any more... perhaps it simply turns to numbness...i see the last two lines as night(s) passing into day(s)...
