'of Peaked interest'
erin-cilberto,
I like how you use the word vanity in this piece. It actually is the thread at least for me which ties it all together. I suppose anyone can be tempted to want to be noticed, praised and remembered. It is a fools errand most of the time. The public are just people and we are all living the best we can and that is a job in itself. So to spend to much time focusing on the greatness of another is quite temporary at best. Was I way off. Maybe.
Blessings,
Kathy

Your welcome Jacob. Enjoyed reading it. I wish you a lovely evening and blessings too.

i don't know if it's intentional or not, but i love how the middle stanza is written in a smaller font than the other two.
these vices of the ego are usually toppled in the end because they have no firm foundation on which to build.
well penned!

Thank You for sharing , fine sir Holly
there are those who write for the wrong reasons and while there is nothing wrong with having confidence in one's writing, pushing others off the mountain just to be the first and highest can leave the egocentric wondering why others aren't paying attention as he waves his flag to himself...
What goes up must come down and especially the ego and its drag. You have published the truth of the matter of someone who likes pompous ratings. Another excellent poem with truthful outcomes...:)........
Wow … that last stanza is killa… Isn't it funny with ego that as we feel it is building us up it is tearing us down. Up goes the facade and down goes the levels and foundation and then comes the crumble.
