"When Goodbye is the "B" Side of Love

"When Goodbye is the "B" Side of Love

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

When Goodbye  is the "B" Side of Love

when you cut me loose

my only severance pay

was a note that echoed so shrill

it broke my eye.

Jacob,

A powerfully brief write that all that need be said of a broken eye (obviously the other poked right the fluck out of gouged?) that left your heart high and dry of about as low as it can go for any man, woman, or Human Being ... As always, my friend, I leave your pages touched and inpsired ...

Jacob erin-cilberto,
"When goodbye is the "b" side of love"
Four lines above, lyrics to the "other side" of caring. Which side are we in now- process of leaving? Does the end have to hurt?
Life can be complex and this poem gave one more aspect to this wonderful challenging reality.

thank you again, Kathy, for reviving some of these older pieces---appreciate your words,

Wow this is such a good read. The brevity of it makes this write even more solid. Love the title you have used here. The cassette has both A and B sides. Well unlike the opera singer whose high note can break glass the shrill note of goodbye can break a lot more than just an eye here. Lovely write enjoyed it thoroughly ^^ Thank you for sharing ^^

so glad you did not ditch this one....

i love the word play. it's clever and subtle.

so many times, i thought of the "b" side as a sort of hidden treasure, an undiscovered country of sorts...
sometimes it was a dud, but other times, it was better than the "a" side...

so it is with goodbyes...

yes ...most are very hard to listen to ...no doubt about it ... have a great day jacob ...
Ah, the B side....the ones no one really could sing along with...the ones everyone wanted to forget. Indeed, the B side of romance is heartbreak. Great metaphor. Lydi**

I liken love relationships as heads and tales..winning or losing ..there seems to always be a flip side ..for better or worse..like the play on words ..a very cool write as always..

There have been times the "B" side was so much better than the "A" side. Sometimes the "B" side plays well for its melodic meaning, at other times for its beat...A or B, being set free, harshly or kindly, either means you are free! I hear the blues, I hear the jazz.

ouch...i like the play on words here, Jacob...i hear the needle scraping across the LP and the crack in the eye isn't the result of a sweetly held note...
