semantically teethingA Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
baby
poems in a cradle of confidence still searching the
first words to say fingers move through the
air typing as if playing an
air guitar but diabolical diapers
of silent syllables mute the cries, and the intentions
defect from the crib of creation
as the poet grows up
stoned on adolescent adjectives and awry adverbs his nouns never quite
get pacified even when the lips of
his fingers find their way to the
keys.
