The earnest splendor of this piece lies in the fact that, regardless of the actual subject content of meaning's given situation, "Shotgun wedding's are seldom willing nor voluntary ...

One of my deepest fears in life is to grow old, and forget, and be forgotten. I don't want that moment to come, ever. I'm only 23 but I feel like I had 16 yesterday. Life is slipping through my fingers and I don't know how to stop it. It is an anxious feeling that will haunt me to the end of my days.
But hey, life's good anyway.

Jacob erin-cilberto,
"Arrangement" I like how you use the finality of age reality's starkness in contrast with "Bridge over troubled water" in this poem. In "The bridge" when times get rough..friends just can't be found.." to "Like a bridge..I will lay me down." Your message is strong in relation to the here and now; "bridge teetering..sky of why..hands no longer shake but wave goodbye.." The reality of this poem really gave me pause as I am no longer back in the Bridge over era myself. Going strong and willing to realize that humbleness in life reality is very good. I had the lyrics up as well and was comparing. Very fun experience. Blessings...............Kathy

ending couplets are striking and powerful for me .. i feel sad with broken dreams, haunted by loss and wanting ... unfulfilled needs are not cherished .. and when it gets to late to tie hope to them .. we are undone ... i think a little Dillon is in these lines:
"A.S.C.A.P. ways entitle me to sing to
the moribund wind of change" ... but i'm not sure that he has turned the corner ;)
what a fine poem Jacob! leaves me sitting here drained ...

I've yet to meet anyone where that song does not mean something significant in their lives. Reading your replies you were lucky. But that takes nothing away from this writing. It takes someone special to make even more out of the soundtrack of all our lives.

Love the play on the title and really enjoyed this entire piece, Jacob...I am a Simon and Garfunkel fan and love your reference to them and their music... but more so, I love the description of that ending relationship, whether it is with life, a business partner or a lover... also enjoyed your use of trestle as a verb...but, after the tears have dried let's hope we find something new...
