The Cobwebs Of Pain

The Cobwebs Of Pain

A Poem by Eric Cox

The cobwebs of pain bleed the soul
haunting plights can gnaw deep holes
the loss of loved ones can bring dark tears
a cobweb of pain no one should feel shear
the darkness from black souls haunts this land
causing cobwebs of pain tainting what should be grand
diseases crawl inside and plague many lives
the health all should feel can be cut like searing knives
when encompassed by physical debilities
these cobwebs can cause the pain of sailing black seas
hunger, poverty, the list goes on and on
the cobwebs of pain should never dawn
no nightmares should ever plague you and I
hold onto hope and never let it die
embrace those hurting with the heart of a dove
ease the tears of pain till the shroud of God's love.

Cobwebs of pain gives the feeling of being trapped in something we just can't get out of , the cobwebs hold us captured in what ever our pain or nightmare is. These webs are strong and can travel far and long. Your poem is beautiful yet tragic, very well written, you weave magic with your words. You take a topic we call can understand and make it very accessable to your readers. Very skillfully done.

An impressive, sad piece of literature with an affirmative yes to life in the last lines.
What I like is the fourth to last line, you protect lyrically all of us despite the very special problems you describe. Good work.

In all the darkness and pain of life, there is a hope that can shine through... Here in your marvelous work you let us see that way to keep walking the path... to have patience until we find the release from our sorrows...

Yes, hope can get us through so much, someones love can get us even further. Outstanding imagery in this poem, very compelling. I think you did a wonderful job on this.

The ending is true.
"embrace those hurting with the heart of a dove
ease the tears of pain till the shroud of God's love."
We will learn a lot of pain in a life. We must give comfort when needed and hope someone will give us comfort when we are in need. Thank you for the excellent poem.
