Squirrels In The Park

Squirrels In The Park

A Poem by Eric Cox
"

An encounter with squirrels with a taste for human meat.

"
I went to the park one day
I walked along the pathway
large trees stood nearby
so blue was the sky
I whistled happily
a carefree day
I saw squirrels nearby
I joyfully said hi
I kept walking along
whistling a song
the squirrels began to follow me
chittering noisily
I had no food to give them
and my mood began to dim
too late I realized my fate
I ended up on their dinner plate
then they took bits of me to their home
they collect human flesh for when winter is known
beware of these squirrels, they have a taste for human meat
you will feel the agony of being consumed once their slicing teeth greet

A good poem to remind us that what seems innocent and sweet isn't always that way. We can be fooled. And this reads as excellent horror too. All seems innocent and peaceful, just out enjoying yourself, the woods and the cute squirrels and they attack. I think that what seems innocent and turns out not to be makes for good horror. Who would be worried about squirrels when out in the woods? Not me! Good job on this Eric.

Thank you!!!!
I found myself laughing wether this was the writers intention or not. What a dark and sinister twist on quite an innocent looking creature, loved teh imagination behind it. Brilliant idea

Someone must have secretly fed them some dead squirrels which then turned them into crazed monsters. I'm hoping I can out run them!

Just when you think its okay to feed the squirrels you find out you are the feed for the squirrels. Excellent horror!

A very chilling poem. Squirrels are cute and seeing them in this poem, they're nightmarish! You really created a frighting view of squirrels here!

I hope the squirrels stay peaceful. A lot of them roaming the Detroit area. I like the story. Squirrels know who had food and who are a waste of time. Thank you for the amazing poem.
