Ghost

Ghost

A Poem by Eric Cox

Beyond my cemetery
sights I'll never see
I'm a spirit never set free
I am haunted by what cannot be,
my tombstone is here
my body lies near
ghostly tears I cry
wishing away I could fly
but here I am, here I roam
my cemetery is my home.

My favorite line 'I am haunted by what cannot be' What cannot be? A Ghost is bound to its cemetery although by night (in most popular culture) they are free to roam the land as pthey please. But really? A ghost is bound to death. To a cemetary, to a grave. It is what cannot be. I'm glad, Ghost, that you are back from the dead or else I won't be able to read such a wonderfully haunting poem. :)

Ah! This is a wonderful poem. This poem clearly states about a ghost that wishes to go away but is bound to his home. I liked this idea.

I work nights and see ghosts there quite often in the building. I wonder what's keeping them there. Nice ghostly job on this sad ghostie tale.

I really like this poem. A sad tale that very well could be true when someone dies and doesn't cross over. They are trapped in their pain for eternity and just can't understand they are dead.
