Dark Shadows

Dark Shadows

A Poem by Eric Cox
"

This is about characters in the classic tv show Dark Shadows.

"

Intertwined with dark shadows

his powers hauntingly flow

Barnabas Collins walks the night

silver cane and skin of white

a gentleman of the dark

piercing with a vampire’s mark

in search of a lovely bride

someone to walk by his side

cursed to live forever

this life he does not treasure

each bite brings him regret

wishing Angelique he’d never met

walking as human for a short while

Dr. Hoffman's cure bloomed a smile

but the vampire curse returns

and the need for blood again churns

in the night his spells mystically flow

Barnabas exists among dark shadows

Angelique entered Barnabas’ life

she longed to become his wife

but Barnabas fell for Josette

rejecting Angelique he would regret

her anger burned like a fire

vengeful torment was her desire

she cast her black magic

and turned things tragic

her heart turned black and dry

“All who love Barnabas will die.”

she cursed Barnabas to life as a vampire

oh how she made him suffer

she would never set him free

she cast darkness upon many

her black magic spells did flow

blooming countless dark shadows

Quentin steps out of the dark shadows

up above the death moon glows

he is now a beast on the prowl

hear his haunting howl

hear his raging growl

a beast so foul

a wolfman beneath the death moon

come too close and you'll meet your doom

his fangs and claws will tear you apart

gone now is his once caring heart

no longer listening to his song

no longer singing along

Quentin's "Shadows Of The Night"

has died beneath the death moon's light

dark shadows have grown inside

dark shadows are now his guide

Dark Shadows is a classic tv show

a gothic soap opera fun to know

darkness from supernatural beings flows

Collinwood is haunted by dark shadows

OMG! I used to watch this when younger. Never missed an episode. In fact all of us girls were so in love with Barnabas.. lol I think back now and am amazed at how far we have come with tv and all. Now everyone is too busy to even get involved with a series never mind sit and watch a single show.

Good one here! Thanks for the memories.

When I was a kid 45 years ago. We would run home to watch Dark Shadows. I will invest very soon in the series. Thank you for the brief story of a good memory. A excellent poem.
