Forever Dead

Forever Dead

A Poem by Eric Cox
"

This is a long horror string haiku.

"

The haunting fog swirls

it coils about each graveyard

where the dead linger

In coffins they sleep

caught inside dark nightmare dreams

wishing they could wake

But their nightmares thrive

through the days and through the nights

unescapable

When your body dies

your soul will never depart

you will breathe decay

Within your coffin

deep in your lingering mind

you know you are dead

Your coffin prison

will keep you bound in decay

silently screaming

The nightmares will play

day after day after day

time will slowly crawl

Decomposition

you will feel each day and night

a nightmare caress

Whispers from the dead

roaming above the coffins

haunt your nightmare dreams

Your coffin is home

not a sweet one, not at all

agony lives here

No one can help you

no one can stop the torture

hope for you is dead

In the living world

we dream of Heaven above

until death blackens

Welcome to your death

feel the acid black caress

abandon all hope

Once your flesh and bones

have decayed into the wood

your death will stretch on

Your dead soul will rise

your coffin no longer home

cemetery bound

Among the tombstones

lingering lost and dead souls

drown in a death breeze

Feel it creep within

feel it haunt your dead spirit

you cannot escape

Whispers cold as ice

haunt you as you try to flee

you hear dark laughter

At the graveyard’s edge

a force silences escape

like bars to a cage

Each cemetery

the dead are shackled within

never to be free

You scream silent screams

your dead mind tortured for years

as are all the dead

Haunted by the dead

haunted by whispers of ice

you send back death words

And death stretches on

haunted and haunting whispers

fill the dead’s lost minds

And if cremated

after your shells burn away

you’ll enter death lands

After searing pain

unimaginable hurt

uncomforted tears

Graveyards are now home

where you’ll feel the death breeze haunt

where whispers infect

Tortured by lost hope

tortured by your dead neighbors

you’re trapped in nightmares

On All Hallow’s Eve

the graveyard gates will open

the day of the dead

You who are alive

may feel the dead lurking near

cold may chill your spine

Whispers you may hear

your loved ones are not the same

death has damned their souls

When midnight chimes toll

the dead are dragged to their graves

their day is now dead

One day you and I

will feel the torture of death

abandon all hope
