Red Riding Hood

Red Riding Hood

A Poem by Eric Cox
"

A dark fairy tale.

"

It was very late one spring day

the Big Bad Wolf was hungry for prey

he roamed the forest and found a home

he would devour the one inside to the bone

the door was not locked so he walked right in

Grandma screamed as he gave a fanged grin

she moved towards the gun over the fireplace

but the wolf was too quick and stopped her mid pace

he bit into her shoulder and she passed out from the pain

then he heard someone in the distance calling her name

he bound Grandma’s hands with his belt very quickly

and put his bandana over her mouth tightly

then he put her in a closet and closed the front door

and disguised himself with some of Grandma’s clothes from a drawer

Red Riding Hood knocked on the door and called out: “Granny”

the Big Bad Wolf answered: “Come in” disguising his voice slyly

Red Riding Hood entered and knew things were not at all right

Grandma’s face was all furry and a muzzle was in sight

she said: “My, you have fur on your face, and a muzzle too”

the Big Bad Wolf said: “The fur keeps me warm, and the muzzle helps me chew”

Red Riding Hood said: “Grandma, your voice is a bit coarse”

the Big Bad Wolf said: “My dear, a sore throat is the source”

Red Riding Hood said: “Grandma, why does evil shine in your eyes”

the Big Bad Wolf said: “Because I’d love to hear your tortured cries”

then he lunged at her as she turned to flee outside

he took her down and she painfully cried

she looked at him with her eyes solid white

the full moon had risen as the day turned to night

she changed into a wolf much bigger than he

her sharp fangs tore chunks from his body

her Grandma broke through the closet door

she was also a wolf and violently tore

a tasty, bloody, meaty treat was known

the Big Bad Wolf was devoured to the bone.

lol. i enjoyed this. i was laughing through the poem. although im not sure why. i thought that the ending was very unusual with a twist of its own that was very weird but yet addicting. i loved reading this and seeing that red riding hood wins the fight with the big bad wolf. awesome that u could come up with this.

Nicely done! I like the way you turned a common story into such a creative poem. And of course I love the twist at the end. Excellent job.
