Autumn JourneyA Poem by Eric CoxA trip to Hood River, Oregon in 2011. Yellow,
red and orange flames upon frost touched trees
The colors enchanting Autumn cast their beauty Traveling by car as the heart of Autumn glows Shades of fire upon the leaves as a soothing wind blows
Mom, Dad, my girl and I caught in an Autumn breeze The roads wind and stretch on between wild forest trees Ivory clouds paint the sky with a touch of blue Deep nature sights caress our souls causing joy to brew
Mt. Hood looms above with a beautiful frost white coat Through the wild forests we journey, our souls afloat The White River winds and wildly streams like sweet white wine The forest creatures shine on as does wild nature divine
We pause by an orchard stretching into the distant white Mom seeks apples, skips pears, as my love creates another write We head for a harvest festival past ever more Autumn trees Caught in the magic of our journey and the beauty of the leaves
At the harvest festival fruit, pumpkins, food carts and crafts surround The atmosphere is thick with crowds whose celebrating voices resound I purchase a gift for my love then we head toward the warmth of home The magic of Autumn we treasured upon a journey where beauty shone © 2014 Eric CoxReviews
