The Last Dragon

The Last Dragon

A Poem by Eric Cox

The last dragon soared alone
over forests to endlessly roam
a dragon ablaze fire red
within, his heart bled
so sad and lonely
he knew he was the only
he could sense no others
no dragon sisters and brothers
he stayed away from men
no killing anger in him
a sad and lonely soul
in his heart a hole

This one is outstanding but so sad. I can help feeling tearful for the last dragon has he wanders about looking for others of his kind. Loneliness is one of the worst pains I can think of. It can kill. Your descriptions and imagery in this really bring this poem to life!

Thank you.
A very sad tale that could apply to man or beast looking for someone to fill a void.

This is very sad indeed. I always feel bad when it comes to dragon stories, so often they're about the last one. You put true feelings into your dragon, helping the reader to understand how such a situation would feel. Excellent job!

An excellent dragon tale but a sad one. To think of this dragon alone and lonely looking for another dragon brings much sadness to this tale. No one wants to be alone. The pain is an awful one. Very well written.
