Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica

A Poem by Eric Cox
"

A poem in tribute to the 1970's classic tv show "Battlestar Galactica".

"
Shiny metal creatures with shifting eyes of glowing red
the heart of the machine desiring humanity dead
a false peace treaty they drew for the Colonial tribes
as peace seemed to shine Cylon lasers cut like knives
the Cylons killed off much of the Colonial race
then the brothers of man fled deep into space
a lone Battlestar survived, the Battlestar Galactica
a ragtag array of vessels trailed the war ship, all noble persona
countless battles erupted with the Cylons, death darkens
but the humans were gifted with skill, Vipers would glisten
countless Cylons were silenced forever, Colonial humans passed
the result of the Cylon cry of death and pulsing laser blasts
the Colonial humans were on a quest for the shining planet "Earth"
spectacular special effects upon our screens had been given birth
Battlestar Galactica is such a cool classic tv show
it is a legend which will forever capture and glow
the Colonial warriors stood strong and just with the spirit of the sky
they would never bend to the Cylon steel death cry

I enjoyed seeing re-runs of the original and loved it. Don't care so much for the remake. Too dark and gloomy for me. Your poem does the show justice. You've caught the true essence and spirit of the show perfectly. You're so very talented, my friend!

Oh yes! One of my fav classic shows.. and obviously good since they've brought it back to life! There was something so powerful in their search for earth.. hope and a future to come from war and pain and death. Excellent tribute, my friend!

This is great - poetry written for real people and not for obscure academics or books that go mouldy, unread and dusty - fine job.
