An Intricate SeasonA Poem by Eric LeeThis, a warm summer morning. Birds sing. Squirrels march. A gentle breeze gives dance, to the crippled Or grounded. This, a perfect day.
This, a midnight storm. Perfect rhythm. Accents of cymbals and flashing lights. Timing just right, to startle. This, the perfect excitement. This, a cool autumn evening. Intricate detail, In preparation for winter. Natures last fire, before the chill smoothers it out. Frantic gathering. This, the perfect pallet of reds. And This. The final push. A frozen, icy morning. All quiet, silent, still, A single cardinal explores. Bland yet brilliant. Life appearing dead. This, a great challenge. And slowly it melts away. Leaving fresh ground. Birds rejoin the choir. Squirrels, once again, return to marching. The sun brings its warmth. The breeze, its soothing ways. This, another start. Another season begins. © 2008 Eric Lee |
