Pitcher

Pitcher

A Poem by Ellie_the_Traveler

Water, clean and pure

Cool and sweet to taste

Refreshes and revitalizes

You must pour then replace

If you don’t replace

The water will lower

The pitcher grows empty

Yet still you devour

Now it is empty

You never refilled

The pitcher is dry

Your need can’t be healed

Now it can’t help you

Can’t end your thirst

For you drank it dry

Your longing gets worse

Pitcher has no more to give

Can’t refill itself

That was your job

Still wishes it could help

But now you blaze anger

Where is my water?

You drank it all up

You only get hotter

You need that water

To end your torment

But pitcher is empty

Its supply all spent

So you move on

To other avenues

Where to find water

Your strength to renew

Pitcher is left

Dry everlasting drought

While you forge on

With nary a doubt
