Tension

Tension

A Poem by e.renoldi
"

reflection from Stinson Beach, CA

"

pull back the memories of the moon

they’ve all gone too soon,

fields of yellow flowers

and portabello mushrooms.

i can barely grasp to

i want to but cannot change.

stop, the light is red

the seatbelt is gone

and love is dead

she screamed

Abba what does this mean,

can it mean

hide your smiles and tears

the world swept anew year by year

her head is brimming over with fears

of time because he is no longer a friend.

awaken beloved, see my face

I can, but will not erase

he is not your master

only brings death faster

floating plasters of lies.

fly free, you are free

peace, back to peace

time will slip but you shall not

fall- in love again,

learn to love again,

again warmth and joy

in your hands.

rest beloved,

put to rest beloved

what you can barely grasp to,

you want to but cannot change.

find the mystery of moving

and losing, choosing what is right

instead of what is easy.

the smallness of crashing

              and splashing,

                             it will come

      but I never leave.

begin to forget the whispers of scars

sounds of foreign cars

and strings that shred hearts.

goodbyes that wave

in what is strange and new.

push away the statue

the green

the stage

the ring

that drain and steal,

that sweep away from what is real.

cling to what is real.

Cling to what is real.

Great metaphorical composition – I particularly liked the ebb and flow of the stanza structure, mimicking waves rolling onto the shore and giving intensity to the write – well done …
