Treasure.

Treasure.

A Poem by e.renoldi

There are many.
Green, yellow, blue, purple, red.
Brilliance in awe.
They line the walls, unique.
And true they are beautiful.
They are beautiful.
Tugging at the heart, they are enthralling.
We are enthralled.
Sparkles that speak to shiny eyes.
Hollow lights fill the holes.
They know for what we toil.
And true they are beautiful.
They are beautiful.
But are they?
The shine dulls, the sparkle fades.
As days grow tall,
hollow lights hide away-
the truest color not but dimming gray.
There are many treasures.
And yet there is only one.
Hidden beneath the gems.
The rubies, the saphire, the opal.
Never does it chip nor fade.
Softly, sweetly it speaks our soul.
O what a treasure.
O what beholds the one who finds,
who leaves the gold and silver behind.
O what beholds the one who seeks will find
what is most precious.
O what a treasure.
