look at meA Poem by e.renoldii saw you
last night- your face
was so soft, you caught
my breath- in my
dreams. the
sharpness of your jaw and the
smooth curve of your wicked
smile, danced
throughout the crevices of my mind. -but you
didn’t see me. you ignored
me. i wanted
this to be different, i did. it was my dream. i wanted you
to- i longed for
your- i yearned
to- the sun rose
too soon, yet my heart
still aches, permeated by
the dark clouds of your
burning memory. why? why not even
here, in my dream. how? i decide
whose heart pounds fast, who falls
off the swing, who escapes
the mad-man’s ropes, who steals
an undeserved kiss, who wins the
race. i decide
where the sun sets, how long the
trees grow, when the
oceans of stars and tears rise
and fall. -but you
didn’t see me. how did you
do it? your memory
wins the daytime
scrimmage- must it also
champion the sweet
subconscious of of the
night? get out. it’s been
far too long. too many
years, too many
battles. get out- no
stay, but stay and
look at me. please, look
at me. © 2016 e.renoldiFeatured Review
