Limerence II

Limerence II

A Poem by eraul

The path on which I have stumbled throughout life

Rose gradually,

Then leveled off as of late, and so abruptly.

Any elevation remains behind me now.

I have dreamt of taking your hand into mine -

The feel of your slender fingers -

And that silver ring,

More memory than obstacle.

Not a single molecule I would not consume -

A euphoric rush, and then I stop trembling.

I feel - I become aware - my own heart

Suspended directly in the Middle Earth

Enclosed within my chest -

Like an ancient and forgotten sun collapsed -

A red, pulsating void.

Fuel consumed so long ago,

Remained gloomy dusk born of no dawn ever.

A tattered kite oblivious to the seduction

Of a lusty breeze -

A massive, ancient oak

Never climbed.

I have dreamt of kissing you,

Standing on this flat plain -

Reaching up to taste your lovely lies,

That linger on my tongue like cinnamon.

Your sideways glance -

Eyebrows twice raised

In rapid charm.

My habit - surrender.

Dishonesty has no relevance in this place

When reconciliation

Floats far above my head -

An unreachable, renegade balloon

Only here and now,

And forever grounded,

Unaware of your relentless gravity.
