Pop Goes the Evil (a Collaboration with noodlehead)

A very dark (and slightly scary) parody of "Pop Goes the Weasel," co-written with noodlehead.

Surviving off the screams he creates,

The Jack-in-the-box at night,

I warn you now, this is no mistake,

Giving kids a fright…

 

Every night when I get home

The clown is on the table,

I knock him to the marble floor

Until he gets unstable…

 

He watches from your window at night

His eyes are full of evil,

The jack-in-the-box will stab you to death,

*slice!* No upheaval.

Hey you two no fair scaring me with slasher Jack-in-the-boxes... 3 nights in a row filled with dreams of Jack in the box Chucky, the Son of Chucky and even Chuchy's grandma... all jumping out with that wierd scary laugh... sheeesh... it was close but I managed to escaped.. but I came to warn you.. beware you have unleased malevolent Jack in the boxes all over the world..there's blood everywhere... I'd say good poem Eric, Noodles, but must run I see Chuchy's grandma coming.... slash slash....

Haha, thanks Red!! Funny you should mention Chucky - I was watching the original Child's Play back around Halloween. It's probably the scariest one, although I've seen much creepier movies about clowns!! Don't let Chucky (or his grandma) kill you...burn them in the fireplace or something!

Ugh!! Nothing in this world will ever make me like one of those! I have no idea who thought it was such a great toy, but it's not. It's pure evil that some psycho in the back woods thought of - I swear.

I have never liked Jack-in-the-box toys. I think that is why I liked the idea of this poem. It was well done and played on the eerie nature of the toy. I would have liked it to be a bit longer story but that is my own personal preference. I liked the poem for what it was and the uneasy nature of it.

Thanks very much for your review, Eddie! I especially appreciate your critique that it should be longer...perhaps I'll explore that idea. I was mostly going by the Pop Goes the Weasel song (which is rather short, in and of itself). Maybe I could expand it using the same melody. I had a Jack-in-the-box as a kid too, and it scared me quite a bit, because it wouldn't always pop up when you expected it to!! I also have been obsessed with evil clowns for a long time.
