Fusee

A visual and verbal recreation of a psychedelic dream experience...

for one hour, all

is

silent, until

 

mad flashes of psychotic

aqua-green mists blind my

physical senses, ostracized

by volcanic inner storms…

breath appears as MONSTROUS

(((cloudsss)))

hidden within a COLOSSAL maze,

         I make attempts to navi-

gate but doors-windows-chains-walls every-

                e                    a                       e

                            r

 

it cannot be real and yet

                the warp ness of it is what

my EYES

                seeeeaaaaaa-

ward sailing on amethyst waves

that change from liquid to solidity,

                trying to remain undetected

                                but

they are

                always

                watchinglisteningtouchingbreathing

from the walls, the floor, the ceiling

these serpentine minions of the skeletal

king.      I sense a dastardly

                force e-merging, immersing

                   dispersing the melodious molecules

                                of the

part-ickle chamber, imprisoning

                me in this claustrophonic

                                house,

                                forever.

i'm dizzy. thank you for such an amazing piece. i really like the idea you put in your poem. those italics, colors, everything in it evoke a fantastic and quite dangerous imagery to the mind. I don't know if i actually interpreted it correctly, but i don't really care. i just enjoyed this. (actually this reminds me of 'Astronomy Domine' by Pink Floyd)

Hey jonah, thanks!! I love "Astronomy Domine," coincidentally! That's one of my favorite albums. I was definitely going for a trippy feel to this - I was feeling that way at the time. I also was hoping to convey a sense of paranoia and fear - I thought of someone trying to escape from himself, but everyone he turned, he would encounter more monsters and fearful hallucinations. It isn't necessarily about me, but...it's hard to explain. Do you know what I mean?

ah yes i think i got the idea a little bit ahahaha. i also feel like that. not all the time though. but how you express it in this poem, i think that's awesome hahah. i'm actually not a fan of Pink Floyd, but a friend told me that song some time ago and the sensation i found in the song is quite how i felt when i read your poem. great job by the way!

Holy schmokes, Eric -- dude this was something else. I loved the imagery and again, with all the different fonts, I love when you do that! It adds so much to the poem and adds so much 'oomph'.

Thanks very much, noodle! It just seems to fit certain poems...the really trippy ones in particular. I think I'm inspired by e.e. cummings, and other poets like that; as long as it doesn't get gimmicky, it's fine.

Reminds me of a Pink Floyd song. Got me in all directions swirling around here and there in that certain trance. Like a Picasso of fine painting, weaving here and here, up and down and all around on the excellent piece. :o)
