The Maddened Poet-King (A Tribute to kublakhan27)

The Maddened Poet-King (A Tribute to kublakhan27)

A Poem by Eric Pudalov
"

A tribute to kublakhan27, and a bit of a parody...04 02 2014

"
In the obscure dimension
resides the maddened poet-king,
scrawling in a frenzy, maniacal
meanings, locked beneath
steel hinges.

The author ponders vowels from
dead languages, channeling the unseen
poltergeists of enchanted playwrights,
who mercilessly mock him in
dissonant voices, strangling his
composition into a twisted heap...

Yet he holds steadfastly, bathing
in Latin verses, a midnight
walk in dactylic hexameter, singing,
"I am the night and the desolate
star, where she breathes this dark
repose."

The spondee and the trochee
summon something deeply from
inner reservoirs, a polluted inkwell
emaciated of adjectives and adverbs,
which he now refills!

And the systemic warlocks
who emerge in the canals of his
blood, cast hallucinatory incantations,
breathing cacophonous life into his
pen, which
once seemed to have lost its luster...

It is now hemorrhaging lines and stanzas
onto the empty parchment, the paper
starved of wording, in the throes
of verbal catabolysis, suddenly
metabolizes this wordly fountain
into a resurrected song!

And this poem, which had
sat surreptitiously in the
abstruse mind of the
poet-king, now
stands proudly
on the page.

Really beautifully written Eric, this ode to our "Steve." You give such a rich peek into his beautiful mind, and spectrum, and your aswell his rich vocabulair, and colors, and hues...

I can't say how much I love this... it's just perfect. You really studied him.
He is a wonderful person and brother to me. He's the Poet-King of all....

Thank you for making this to a new dimension my friend.

You never cease to impress me, Eric. Just when I thought I've read your best poem, you come up with a better one. Plus, your tributes seem to reflect the style of the writer. I see a Steve-ish touch here (I am a fan of his poetry, too.) and the wordplay in this piece is utterly amazing! I'm caught in a whirlwind of linguistic ecstasy. (I read this twice and I twice 'wowed'.)

Poet-king--Steve deserves such noble title.

Always in awe of your words,
Blue :)

Wow, thank you everybody for the kind words...I am truly humbled...on days when I'm feeling down, I'll remind myself of this...I've said this before, but I would have packed it in a million times now if it weren't for you all :) For some of you, it's a full-time job, so it means the world :)

I LOVE this incredibly refreshing piece. I often find poetry emotionally stimulating, but when a poet produces a piece that appeals to my intellect, I am truly satisfied. I can be a bit of a serious brooding sort, so the fact that this piece also made me laugh, is something I rather appreciate! I'm glad I found it and look forward to reading more!

Such an amazing tribute to Steve. His ability transcends average poetry. I know he rarely sees the magnitude of his words and the impression they leave on the reader. His poems leave me stunned and I read them multiple times to try to absorb their complexity. Thank you for singing his praises with your own pen!! Fantastic!!

Thank you!! It certainly is - I only hope that he can see it himself.
Holy smokes, I'd have known this was about Steve without even reading the title!! Such an honor for the great kublakhan...I agree wholeheartedly and then some! Outstanding, even if it wasn't about one of my very favorite poets/person.

I am utterly speechless my friend...this is the ultimate compliment and I don't have the words to articulate my gratitude...I'll tell you this, I was having an absolutely brutal day and I didn't anything would cheer me up, but this trumps all of that brutality, so not only is the poem immaculate but so was the timing :)

Even without the reference to me, I would be gushing over this piece...I still have a great deal of catching up to do but this is my favourite piece from your catalogue to date...the trochee and spondee brought a big smile to my face, I didn't think anyone remembered those terms anymore :) The imagery throughout is just off the charts...I've read some parodies of the poem before but this is by far the best, and the only one that still works as a phenomenal poem in its own right...I can't say enough about it :)

This will be printed and stuck to my fridge, and will proudly be showed off, and not just because it's about me...thank you Eric :)
